A good friend and staff member Alexander was recently diagnosed with cancer. Many of you know Alex as the go-to-guy in our wellness department. He has helped thousands of customers in their quest for natural healing, now Alex could use a little support back. He has undergone surgery to remove the bulk of the cancer. Alex plans on post surgery treatment and will not be able to work for several weeks. We are holding a fundraiser at the store to support Alex.
Update: 7/27/10 Alexander’s surgery went well. He is at home in recovery taking it easy. Thank you all very much for your support in our raffle and your donations. We have amazing customers !

Alexander is still at home with his loved ones recovering.
His spirits are up and he is extremely grateful to everyone who has shown him support. Alexander will begin chemo soon and is gathering his plan of attack to heal himself holistically as well.
Update: 8/13/10 Alexander is largely recovered from surgery. After several MRI’s and blood tests, he is giving himself a summer haircut this weekend to prepare for Chemo. Alex will be undergoing four full rounds starting Monday August 16th. Stop by and drop Alex some cheer…

Alexander started the first of 9 Chemo treatments today. After Chemo, he has another surgery to remove a small tumor. As you might imagine Chemo takes a lot out of the body. Despite the aches and pain Alex’s sense of humor is intact.
We wish we had a feed from the store so that Alexander could see how many people ask about him and wish him well.

A week into chemo, Alexander is still fighting! A small bump in the road to recovery from a fever, an allergic reaction to the treatment had Alex in the hospital for a day. He is back at home feeling better. Once again, (Alexander can’t say it enough) he greatly appreciates all the love everyone has showed him!
New charity raffle !
We will be raffling off a dinner for four at Alana’s Restaurant
Alana’s Food and Wine, located on High Street three blocks north of the Ohio State University, has been a gourmet destination for over 10 years. Serving a daily changing menu, Chef Alana Shock focuses on local, seasonal ingredients sourced from Ohio farms to craft her “five star” cuisine. Alana’s also features an extensive wine list (sold at state minimum prices with a $5 dollar corkage fee) and specializes in food and wine pairings.

There have been many challenges I have had to face and each time the earth restored me through the most remarkable resources — freely available healing gifts. In fact, what is often regarded as misfortune in either being disregarded for insurance benefits and/or being unable to access the intervention of surgical specialists, may not have been so in my case. Poor economic circumstances may possibly have contributed to my survival — by forcing me to resort to wild plants and to rely on myself, my inner strengths — willing to be well. Many may regard such notions as primitive, unrealiztic, or misinformed, but if you feel the answers are found in universal energy. it is possible for me to reinforce your recovery by sharing this knowledge.
He is my brother and he is a very cool guy. I often call him the herbal-geekery… I love him.
